The wave of artificial intelligence (AI) is exacerbating/spurring layoffs in 2024. Many companies have moved towards deploying AI technology to replace human labour, and have thus implemented or planned large-scale layoffs and slow down recruitment. At present, about 65% of businesses are using AI tools such as ChatGPT to reduce labour costs.
It is hence conceivable that when human-like AI robots with hands and legs are deployed worldwide, many more people will be laid-off. How then will people who lose their jobs cope with life under the double blow of unemployment and economic pressures?
According to The Lancet, both unemployment and financial hardship are major contributing factors to increased suicide rates globally. When people lose their means to earn a living, they will inevitably feel helpless and lost. And as the psychological burden gradually mounts, they eventually choose to commit suicide. Even students had chosen to commit suicide for fear of losing their worth and being replaced by AI.
Kyrios says, the precious life that Heaven has bestowed upon us did not come easy –living on Earth is in itself a test. Kyrios sternly advises that no one should ever commit suicide, even if you lose your job or encounter any difficulties. It is wrong to think that suicide is a relief! Those who have committed suicide and lost their lives will plunge into a more difficult and painful abyss instead.
